PRODUCTION - Individual Character Analysis
In this post, I am going to look at particular traits that male and female serial killers may have in common in terms of personality, clothing, mannerisms etc. In a previous post I have looked at some of the main characteristics that are general and common among both genders and the main types of serial killers however I felt like I needed to delve deeper into the mindset of a male and female serial killer.
POPPY "THE POISONER" PARKER
Psychologists say that female killers tend to use their gender to their advantage whether it's in the form of sexually luring their target or using their profession (teacher, nurse) to get their victim where they want them.
One of the most lethal female serial killers in history is
English-born Amelia Dyer, she was only actually convicted of ONE murder however it is speculated that she had committed OVER 400. She claimed to adopt and watch children but instead she brutally tortured and killed them. This is a prime example of how an innocent old lady can so easily hide this extremely disgusting history.
While many male serial killers kill to fulfil the desire of domination or control, females are more likely to kill for power or money. They also tend to harder to catch than male killers, with statistics showing that females are able to avoid capture for at least twice as long as males. A frightening trait that female killers seem to have is that they seem to kill people they know or are infact related to whether it's blood or marriage.

On the 6th of July 2017, Isabel Martinez, a 33 year-old mother of 4, was arrested after she beat and murder her 4 children and her husband in their home in Georgia. She showed no remorse for the killings as seen (left).
The stereotypical profile of a female serial killer is disturbingly common. They are young, middle-class women who are usually married Christian and work with vulnerable people in the community in roles such as teachers, nurses, care staff etc. Another terrifyingly common trait that women killers have is that most of their victims are killed by poisin. This is important to us as we wish to incorporate this idea into our film when Poppy pours the poison into Bobby's glass of wine.
