PRODUCTION - Re-filming Day

Due to the errors previously described at the end of my Filming Day post, we decided to meet up again and refilm the dinner scene as well as the interview and the killing. As it was quite short notice for our actors we tried to limit the amount of time we took to refilm these scenes as we had taken up the whole day to do it the first time round. 

This time it only took about 2 1/2 hours which was good because it meant we were able to get all the filming done again to a higher standard as well as replaying all the clips so that there was definitely no errors. We filmed from around 7pm to around 9.30pm to make sure we didn't take too much time out of the actors days again. 

To save even more time like we had done on the first day of filming, we split ourselves up into different tasks to save time throughout the evening which would benefit ourselves and the actors. We took it in turns to film clips while others were setting up other areas getting ready for following scenes. 

I filmed the clips of Bobby (Cormac) answering the phone and the house phone ringing while Eimir and Andrea were setting up the Dinner Scene. While Eimir and I were filming the Dinner Scene, Andrea made the fake blood following the recipe that I've posted about before. While Andrea and I filmed the end of the Dinner Scene, Eimir set up the Interview scene which was filmed upstairs. 

We made sure that we replayed all the Dinner Scenes to ensure the accents didn't change and if they were any errors we did retake just to be sure. We were happy enough with the choking scene at the very end of the film which we had shot on the first day so we didn't have to remake the meal and didn't need the poison bottle again.

A mockumentary is a  a television programme or film which takes the form of a serious documentary in order to satirise it's subject.  Mockumentary productions are often used to analyse or comment on current affairs and events by using fictional settings or parodies in documentary forms itself. Mocumentaries tend to be comedic / pseudo-documentaries. Pseudo-Documentaries shouldn't be confused with  Docudramas  as they are similar however not the same. Pseudo Documentaries are a fictional genre that dramatic techniques are combined with documentary elements to portray real life events. Docudramas are a genre in which documentaries are mixed with fictional events.  The term "mockumentary" originated in the 1960's and popularised in mid 1980's. Mocumentaries tend to be presented as historical documentaries, discussing past events or pieces following people through various events. THEORY - Representation in our film "The Secret"

Representation refers to the construction of any medium of aspects of reality such as people, places, events etc. Our film "The Secret" is based around a real story however we put our own twist on it making it more fictional. We tried to make our film appealing to as many social groups as we could like age, gender, sexuality.  Theorist Judith Butler created a theory - 'Queer Theory'. Her theory generates the idea that gender doesn't control all aspects of our identity or our perception of others. Gender is flexible in the way it is represented whether it is in Television or in film. This applies to our film in the sense of erasing the negativity associated with homosexuality. We applied the theory with the intention to help our audience be more open to homosexuality and with how more common this theme is in every day life.
